I’m Finally a Mom

I’ve been a dog mom. A cat Mom. A hopeful woman, clinging to hope for years that I would become a Mom. And it finally happened.

I told myself I would keep up with this blog and post more regularly. I fully committed to redoing my website, uploading writing content pertaining to last year’s NanoWriMo. After a successful first year at nanowrimo, I took my planned vacation. A sort of celebration and relaxation time after completing Nano. Well, it sort of also turned into celebrating being pregnant also!

We found out on December 4th, 2020 that our prayers had finally been answered and we were expecting.

And as life goes sometimes, we adjust and make changes. I always say there is a season of life for everything. After 8 years of struggling with infertility, I wanted to fully embrace and enjoy pregnancy. There were so many new things to learn, and enjoy. I’m glad I took the time to focus on our baby.

Right now. I’m laying in bed and she’s sleeping beside me (finally after being fussy all day for refusing sleep. Totally weird cause sleep is amazing!) I’m so proud and blessed to finally be here. We did a lot this year. We had a baby, and we bought a house.

While I am still adjusting to life as a new mom, a home owner, a wife, and a full time employee, it’s time to bring back writing. Writing has always been a huge passion of mine. I started writing in the sixth grade when I was twelve years old! I’m now 27 (I’ve reached the age where I had to stop and do the math…Anyone else do this?) As I’ve grown up I’ve always carried writing with me.

The hardest part of this transition is going to be carving out time to write. In the past I set writing time in my calendar. I stuck to a strict schedule, giving myself 2-3 hours a day to write. My monthly goal was 15k works, and I typically wrote 15-25k in a month.

That was almost a year ago and a lot has changed! All I’ve done this last year is reread old writing, and do some editing. This season of life is going to need a different approach. Because, well, things are different! All in good ways.

So if you are a new mom, or a mom in general tell me how you find time to write? Or simply check in here with me, or on my social media to watch how I attempt to navigate this new path.

My hopes and goals are to write when I can, whenever I can. Simple right? Well I sure hope so!

So here is to jumping back into things! My creative juices have been flowing. My brain has given me a new story idea. I finished my scene by scene outline in a day (with only one week left of preptober, yikes!). I’m still working out character names, and getting my scrivener set up on my shiny new laptop. (Curtesy of my wonderful husband) Everything will work itself out, and I’m determined to make it happen.

My NanoWriMo profile is linked on the front page of this website. Check it out, and add me as a buddy so we can encourage each other this year! I am looking forward to it.

(This was saved to my drafts and never uploaded. Whoops. Uploading now, please forgive the post spam today!)

xoxo
